Payyanur police arrested the girl's sister and sister's husband from the latter's residence at Padiyotchal near Payyannur in kannur district last late night, in connection with the Varapuzha sex scandal case, in which the girl was sold for Rs one Lakh by her relatives.
According to Payyanur police, Pushpavathy (29) of Mathura in Kasargod and her husband C Vinod (40) of Padiyotchal-Cheerkat in Kannur district were arrested by a Varapuzha police team who handed them over to payyanur Police.
Pushapavthy is the elder sister of the 16-year old girl, the victim of the sex scandal.
The Varapuzha police had arrested her parents last week.
According to police, the arrest was made following confession made by the girl's mother.
The girl had confirmed the involvement of Shobha John in the case. The girl was allegedly sold for Rs one lakh by her parents to Shobha John last year in Thiruvananthapuram.
Police had arrested the girl along with two others from Varapuzha.
