Speed governors to be made mandatory for school buses

Thiruvananthapuram, As part of a series of steps introduced to check over-speeding of vehicles carrying school children, State Transport Minister VS Sivakumar informed that speed governors will be installed in school buses.

Speaking to the reporters here on Monday, Minister added that emergency exits would be made mandatory in all school buses. The speed governors to be installed would have to conform to the prescribed standards, he said.

The bus belonging to or hired by an educational institution should be driven only by a trained driver who has not less than 10 years of driving experience, Minister added.
