DHANUSH NEW SINGLE FEATURING TATA NANO

New Delhi: Just like all legendary tales start... On November 16, 2011 a certain absurd sounding tune went viral immediately after its release, across India, across the world.

Will Dhanush's new song-commercial be the next 'Kolaveri Di'?Why this Kolaveri Di - meaning 'Why do you have this murderous rage against me?' - a composition by none-other-than superstar Rajinikanth's son-in-law Dhanush, got 3.5 million views on YouTube, more than 1 million shares on Facebook, and trended first on Twitter in India within the first week of its release. It became the top downloaded song on cellphones with 2,10,000 downloads within the first 18 days. It was also the first Tamil song to premiere on MTV India.
The song was everybody's facebook status, everybody's caller tune, everybody's anthem. Dhanush and 'Kolaveri Di' earned the hall of fame status amongst the popular Rajinikanth jokes. With its relaxed rhythm, lullaby melody and outrageously funny Tamil-English or 'Tanglish' lyrics, it was hard to put it off the loop mode.
Across the world, and especially in Asia, people pursued it with unrelenting passion and tweaked it into countless versions, so much so that by 2012, the song and all of its versions combined had 50 million YouTube views.
So it was no surprise that Dhanush's new song-commercial for a the compact car TATA Nano, released just 5 days ago, has already got more than 400,000 YouTube views. The commercial features Dhanush himself saving a girl's life by rescuing her from a roadblock and rushing her to the hospital in his compact car. Find out here if the song gives you the same vibes that were once felt with Why this Kolaveri Di.

Apple's victory over Samsung could mean more lawsuits

Apple, Samsung
The federal court jury's decision Friday in a smartphone patent lawsuit between Apple and Samsung is expected to alter the dynamics of the highly competitive mobile phone industry.

For Samsung, which lost on almost every count in the closely watched trial in San Jose, Calif., and was ordered to pay more than $1 billion in damages, the implications are more obvious. It will have to be cautious in how it designs products to avoid being accused of imitating Apple.

Other makers may become more cautious, too. Google, which makes the Android software that runs at the core of Samsung phones, will clearly feel an impact through its hardware-making partner. Microsoft, however, which is attempting to enter the market with new software, will feel less of an effect, industry experts said.

Apple has been the smartphone market leader. It defined the category in the way phones look and how users interact with them. Most popular smartphones today are a slab of glass and metal controlled through a touch-screen full of icons arrayed on the screen. Because consumers are familiar with that format, phones from various makers tended to look and behave similarly.

Neil Armstrong, First Man to Walk on Moon, Dies at 82

Neil Armstrong was a quiet, self-described “nerdy” engineer who became a global hero when as a steely-nerved U.S. pilot he made “one giant leap for mankind” with the first step on the moon. The modest man who entranced and awed people on Earth has died. He was 82.

Armstrong died following complications resulting from cardiovascular procedures, a statement from his family said Saturday. It didn’t say where or when he died.
Armstrong commanded the Apollo 11 spacecraft that landed on the moon July 20, 1969, capping the most daring of the 20th century’s scientific expeditions. His first words after setting foot on the surface are etched in history books and in the memories of those who heard them in a live broadcast.

“That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind,” Armstrong said.

In those first few moments on the moon, during the climax of a heated space race with the then-Soviet Union, Armstrong stopped in what he called “a tender moment” and left a patch to commemorate NASA astronauts and Soviet cosmonauts who had died in action.

Sona nair to act in 'Kapalika (Photos)

Sona Nair, who has mostly portrayed conventional roles on the small and big screen, breaks away from the stereotype inAnavrutayaya Kapalika. She plays a high class sex worker in the telefim by her friend and short filmmaker, Preethi Panicker.
“What attracted me to this film was the treatment of the character Kapalika,” says Sona. The original Kapalika is a play by the late N N Pillai. Later, it was adapted into a movie with the same name, where actress Sheela played the lead.
“In the original, Kapalika, who is cheated by a man, is forced to live the life of a prostitute. But in the telefilm, the character is treated with a lot of positivity. Instead of ending her life, Kapalika decides to live for the sake of other people, and gives away everything she earns as a prostitute to charity. There is also a twist at the end,” says Sona.
The actress says that the character has been portrayed in a sensuous way sans any vulgarity. “Kapalika is an extremely beautiful woman. Her character has been brought out in a subtle way without any skin show,” says Sona and adds that although the theme is decades old, it is still relevant. “Women are still being exploited, however strong they are,” she says.
Director Preethi says the film, which was screened recently in Trivandrum, was well received by the audience. “We will be screening it at festivals and are also thinking of a DVD release,” she says. The 30-minute film has been scripted by Rajeev Gopalakrishnan.

Ranjini Haridas blasts the moral policing trend!

Ranjini Hardias, the most popular television anchor in Malayalam, feels that moral policing stems from the narrow male attitude that they have the right and responsibility to safeguard the women around. Known to be one who neverminces words, Ranjini had a thing or two say about moral policing that is reportedly be on the rise.
Today’s women know to do things own their own and make the choices for themselves, Ranjini opined on a show on television, when she was asked to comment on theincreasing instances of moral policing that have been reported across the state.
Dress cannot be seen as the cause for provocation of unfavourable behavior towards women either, added Ranjini. It is the result of unhealthy mental set up of a few men. Wearing a sari in place of modern dresses does not help. “I think sari is the most provocative among ladies outfits,” the gutsy girl said.

Friday (2012) Malayalam Movie Review Aggregator

Friday’, directed by Lijin Jose has an ensemble star castwith such names as Fahad Fazil, Nedumudi Venu, Asha Sarath, Prakash Bare, Ann Augustine, Manu and several others. The film has generated mixed reports all over. Take a look!
Nowrunning says its could have been better, but that it is good, as it is: “‘Friday’, more than everything else, presentsan enterprising director, who has an eye for fine cinema. With a little more compactness and finesse, it could have turned out even better; as such, it remains a fine watch.”
Rediff says there is nothing new about it: “The latest person to join the multiple narrative bandwagon is debutante director Lijin Jose with his film Friday 11.11.11 Allapuzha, where he tells the story of a few characters on that peculiar day and how their destinies are connected. In the end, we can say that Friday 11.11.11 Allapuzha directed by newcomer Lijin Jose with an ensemble cast is passable as there seems to be an overdose of stories of similar kind.”
Sify calls it average: “In all fairness, Friday can work in parts for all those who are not familiar watchingmovies in this pattern used in films like Amores Perros, Babel, Crash, 21 Grams and some of those Robert Altman gems. But for all those who are familiar with this style of filmmaking, this film looks amateurish and pretentious.”
