Microsoft launches new Windows Phone software in India


Microsoft launches its latest version of Windows Phone operating system in the country - Agencies
Software giant Microsoft on Wednesday announced the launch of its latest version of Windows Phone operating system in the country, aiming to cash in on the burgeoning market for smart phones in India.
The Windows Phone 7.5 version, which is also known as Mango, has a new rich user interface of Live Tiles and Hubs, which will help users to quickly find the information required and connect.

"With Windows Phone, we have looked at the consumer experience in an absolutely fresh way, and the end result is an innovative operating system which seamlessly integrates the most sought after user experiences like search, gaming, email and social networks," Microsoft India Chairman Bhaskar Pramanik told reporters here.
The conventional application icons have been replaced by Live Tiles, which keep showing real-time updates from the Web such as news, appointments or the status of friends.
Pramanik said a host of handset makers like HTC, Samsung, Acer and Nokia are expected to launch new devices based on the new operating system.
HTC is planning to launch its Radar smartphone based on the new Windows Phone 7.5 version which would be available next week, while Samsung Omnia would be launched next month.
The phone also comes pre-loaded with Xbox LIVE and Windows Phone Office.
