SFI protest turns violent, P Biju injured


Kozhikode: SFI activists and the police clashed at the Kozhikode Govt Engineering college in connection with the Nirmal Madhav issue. Nirmal Madhav had allegedly got admission to fifth semester at the intervention of Kerala Higher Education Secretary violating admission norms. 


The protest was held by the SFI to oust Nirmal Madhav who was given admission illegally. It turned violent and many SFI activists were injured. SFI state secretary P Biju was severely injured on his head. Five students and two executive members of the parents association, who were also present, were injured.

Mathrubhumi photographer K K Praveen was injured on his head in the stone pelting. Praveen who sustained a deep cut, has been taken to the Kozhikode Beach Hospital.

The protest was held outside the campus and with stone throwing incident, police resorted to grenade and tear gas shells to disperse the protesting activists.
