Thiruvananthapuram, The cost of electricity will go up in the State by 25 paise a unit from October1 for all domestic consumers using upto 120 units of electricity a month.
The earlier decision was to impose surcharge of Rs. 25 paise per unit on power from September. The order of the commission comes in the wake of the request placed by the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) on the issue.
Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) is imposing the surcharge for six months to enable it to recover from the consumers a sum of Rs.181.14 crore towards additional expenses incurred by it on costly thermal power.
