It is by now an accepted theory thatPadmasree Bharat Dr Saroj Kumar is the unofficial sequel to Mohanlal’s 2005 hitUdayananu Thaaram.
The story is mainly about some of the characters from the earlier version, which includes the silly super star Saroj Kumar (Sreenivasan) and his confidant Pachaalam Bhasi (Jagathy Sreekumar).
The new film has dared to laugh at several issues concerning the film industry and also mentions about certain general topics, like the controversial remarks by politician M V Jayarajan.
The fans of Mohanlal are obviously miffed about the comments made in the film about the hero.
Some of his famous ad campaigns, his Colonel status, the IT raids and so on has been ridiculed.
Even Prithviraj has not been spared but many feel that there is not much criticism against Mammootty.
This has added to the anger of Mohanlal fans and they are up in arms against the film’s scenarist and lead actor, Sreenivasan.
But as it happens in most controversial films, it is this negative campaign that is working to the advantage of the film to a certain extent considering the box office collections, as the film has been given thumbs down by virtually everyone.
